Statement
The hand can be seen as a universal human element transcending any division amongst us. Two hands represent connection; a celebration of a shared self.
Calderon's hand illustrates existentialist concepts, Lee's hand represents her journey through the spiritual underworld into mysticism.
We invite the viewer to participate by attaching a wish, prayer, or thanks, onto a cloth hand.
Calderon is an interdisciplinary visual artist. Lee is a painter & muralist. Both artists were raised in border-towns; Calderon (El Paso TX), Lee (Yuma AZ). Their shared experiences include being ASU School of Art alumni, full-time freelancers, mentors, and educators.
